Garden Cities of Tomorrow Conference - 10 September
A conference which will explore the history of garden cities, suburbs and villages, the issues surrounding their conservation and future, as well as the design of new garden communities.

On Monday 10 September, ColladoCollins' Felix von Bechtolsheim will be taking part in the Garden Cities of Tomorrow conference, organised by Place Services. Felix will be discussing the topic of ‘Evolving the garden city concept for today’s market’, with specific reference to the former Shredded Wheat Factory site (The Wheat Quarter) in Welwyn Garden City, alongside project team members from Bradley Murphy Design and ICENI.
This one day conference will feature a keynote session by Katy Lock of the Town and Country Planning Association, co-author of ‘The Art of Building a Garden City’ and contributors also include: Mervyn Miller, author of ‘English Garden Cities (English Heritage); Sarah Rutherford, author of ‘Garden Cities’ (Shire Library); and Elain Harwood, writer on 20th century architecture, as well as a range of other national and local experts. It will be chaired by David Ames of the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation.
The conference is being held in Welwyn Garden City, Ebenezer Howard’s second Garden City, which celebrates its centenary year in 2020.
