Celebrating 10 years of ColladoCollins
Where we came from and where we're going
26 September 2014
We set out in 2004 around a strategy based upon creating and nurturing relationships in the retail and residential sectors with leading developers and operators. With some luck, good timing and a lot of hard and mostly enjoyable work we find ourselves at this point, after 10 years, involved with some great people, great clients and great projects.
Thinking back, it is difficult to have imagined that we would have reached this place. The past few years in particular have seen us gradually develop our team, our systems, and ourselves, and the complexity of some of the projects that we are now being invited to become involved with is increasing. The industry can be difficult to predict, and over reaching has been the undoing of many a good practice, but the partners have a sound business training in addition to their architectural skills and passions, and we are at a point where we need to push on again in order to maintain and improve a service to our existing clients, and to allow us to continue to attract new ones. To this end we have actively begun to reevaluate the practice. We have reengaged with our entire team to reconstruct the way in which we work together, rewarding our talent with not only very good salaries, but also with paid sabbaticals, flexible working opportunities, paid further education, gym membership and so on. It is a cliché but we really are only as good as the team we have, and we really do have a good team. We have employed new Directors who share our vision and who are helping us to grow the business, and who have hit the ground running, and are expanding our team carefully to support this growth.
We are presently involved in major new commercial headquarters buildings, with retail lead regeneration projects across the south east, and with nearly 4000 residential dwellings on 50 sites across the country, mainly within the south east. greater and central London with a combined potential construction value in excess of £1billion.
Our goal is to take the next step of moving the firm from 30 people to 50 or 60, to expand our turnover and to use this scale to introduce newer systems, strong people, more efficient databases to allow us to deliver projects as good as or better than our competitors. We have strong commercial foundations, enjoy, deliver and understand the value of design, and will continue to seek to serve our clients so that they come back to us once they have worked with us.
