ColladoCollins secures planning on first scheme in Dublin
Hotel featuring 310 bedrooms situated on prominent corner site in the city centre
25 September 2018
ColladoCollins has secured planning on its very first project in Ireland. Working with client Fitzwilliam Real Estate Capital Ltd, the practice is designing and delivering a new 310 bedroom hotel on a high profile site in Dublin’s city centre.
The hotel, which will be operated by German hotel group Motel One, sits on the corner of Liffey Street Upper and Abbey Street Middle, a stone’s throw from Dublin’s main thoroughfare - O’Connell Street - and nearby landmarks including the Ha’Penny Bridge, the GPO and the Dublin Spire.
The design of the scheme presents a modern twist on a traditional vocabulary, giving a nod to the hierarchy of the Georgian architecture in the surrounding area through its symmetry and use of a refined material palette which includes brick, stone and bronze.
Due to start on site in 2019, the hotel aims to serve as a focal point for people moving between two parts of the city, becoming a new landmark.
We have enjoyed working closely with Roy and the ColladoCollins team on this project. They are not only
good designers, but also commercially knowledgeable and good advocates for an idea. Between us, we
have managed to negotiate support for a good building in a very sensitive City location which we are now
very excited about building.
