Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming a group of work experience students from both sixth form and university into the studio.

To give them a real insight into life as an architect, each student was set a design brief: The People’s Pavilion. Their challenge was to design a small pavilion for one of CoCo’s existing developments, inspired by a specific culture and informed by research, precedent studies and the surrounding context.

Throughout the programme, they explored every stage of the design process; from developing concepts through hand sketching, learning SketchUp and Enscape, to presenting their final proposals to the office for a collaborative review.

It has been fantastic to see their creativity and confidence grow over the course of each placement. Supporting aspiring designers and sharing our knowledge is something we value greatly as a practice, and these experiences are just as rewarding for us as they are for the students.

We hope to keep in touch and watch these talented young minds continue to develop! Huge thanks to our work experience coordinator Ollie Astley for curating the programme and making the students feel at home.
